What Is a Square Text Generator?

A square text generator is a text converter that swaps each letter for a squared Unicode capital, so every letter sits in its own box. The same tool goes by square font generator, square letters generator, boxed text generator, block text generator and square text maker.

How Square Text Works

Square letters come from the Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement block of Unicode. White squared capitals run from 🄰 (U+1F130) to 🅉 (U+1F149), and black squared capitals run from 🅰 (U+1F170) to 🆉 (U+1F189). Unicode has no lowercase squared letters, so the generator turns small letters into squared capitals. Regional indicator letters 🇦 to 🇿 (U+1F1E6 to U+1F1FF) and the combining enclosing square (U+20DE) give 2 more boxed looks.

How to Use the Square Text Generator

To use the square text generator, type your words, copy a square style, and paste it. Here are the steps and the copy keys for each device:

1. Type your words in the box at the top. Square letters are wide, so 1 or 2 words fit best.
2. Pick a square style: white squares, black squares, alternating, regional letters, boxed or keycaps.
3. Tap Copy, or select the text and press Ctrl + C on Windows or Cmd + C on a Mac.
4. Paste the text with Ctrl + V or Cmd + V. On iPhone and Android, tap and hold in a text field, then tap Paste.

Square Numbers and Square Emoji

Unicode has no squared digits, so square numbers use keycap emoji: 0️⃣ 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣ 4️⃣ 5️⃣ 6️⃣ 7️⃣ 8️⃣ 9️⃣, plus #️⃣ and *️⃣. Square emoji words cover 11 common labels: 🆒 🆓 🆕 🆗 🆘 🆙 🆚 🆔 🆑 🆖 🆎. The black squared letters 🅰 🅱 🅾 🅿 double as blood type emoji, so many phones draw them in red.

Black, White and Colour Square Symbols

Square symbols decorate text without letters inside. Here are 4 groups to copy:

• Black squares: ■ ▪ ◼ ◾ ⬛
• White squares: □ ▫ ◻ ◽ ⬜
• Colour squares: 🟥 🟧 🟨 🟩 🟦 🟪 🟫
• Large squares: ⬛ ⬜, the biggest square symbols in most fonts

Unicode letters have no colour of their own, so colour square text uses the coloured square emoji around plain or squared letters: 🟩 🅶🅾 🟩.

Why Regional Letters Turn Into Flags

Regional letters turn into flags when 2 of them form a country code, such as 🇺 + 🇸 for 🇺🇸. The generator puts an invisible zero-width space (U+200B) between regional letters to stop the flag. Some apps remove that space on paste, so pick white or black squares for words that contain country codes.
