What Is a Bold Text Generator?
A bold text generator is a text converter that replaces each letter with its bold twin from the Unicode Standard. The bold letter 𝐁 and the normal letter B are 2 separate characters, in the same way that A and a are separate characters. Bold Unicode text keeps its weight after pasting: no formatting travels with it, only different characters.
A bold text generator is not a bold font. A font changes how a device draws normal letters, and the change stays inside one app. Unicode bold characters stay bold in every app that can display them.
How Does Unicode Bold Text Work?
Unicode bold text works through the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block (U+1D400 to U+1D7FF), added in Unicode 3.1 in 2001. Mathematicians and science publishers requested the block, as a bold x and a plain x carry different meanings in formulas. The Unicode Consortium, founded in 1991, maintains the standard, and the same block now supplies bold text on social media.
The generator reads each character you type and swaps it for the matching bold code point: A (U+0041) becomes 𝐀 (U+1D400), and 1 becomes 𝟏 (U+1D7CF). Characters with no bold twin, such as punctuation and emoji, stay as they are.
How to Make Text Bold With Copy and Paste
To make text bold with copy and paste, type your text in the bold text generator, tap a bold style, and paste it into your app. The steps are:
- Type or paste your text into the box at the top.
- Choose a bold style: bold serif for a classic look, bold sans for a modern look, or bold italic for emphasis.
- Tap the style to copy it.
- Paste the bold text into your post, bio, comment or message.
Unicode Bold Alphabets
Unicode has 6 bold alphabets, and 2 of them include bold numbers. Each one has an official Unicode name:
- Mathematical Bold (bold serif)
𝐀 𝐁 𝐂 𝐃 𝐄 𝐅 𝐆 𝐇 𝐈 𝐉 𝐊 𝐋 𝐌 𝐍 𝐎 𝐏 𝐐 𝐑 𝐒 𝐓 𝐔 𝐕 𝐖 𝐗 𝐘 𝐙
𝐚 𝐛 𝐜 𝐝 𝐞 𝐟 𝐠 𝐡 𝐢 𝐣 𝐤 𝐥 𝐦 𝐧 𝐨 𝐩 𝐪 𝐫 𝐬 𝐭 𝐮 𝐯 𝐰 𝐱 𝐲 𝐳
𝟎 𝟏 𝟐 𝟑 𝟒 𝟓 𝟔 𝟕 𝟖 𝟗 - Mathematical Sans-Serif Bold (bold sans)
𝗔 𝗕 𝗖 𝗗 𝗘 𝗙 𝗚 𝗛 𝗜 𝗝 𝗞 𝗟 𝗠 𝗡 𝗢 𝗣 𝗤 𝗥 𝗦 𝗧 𝗨 𝗩 𝗪 𝗫 𝗬 𝗭
𝗮 𝗯 𝗰 𝗱 𝗲 𝗳 𝗴 𝗵 𝗶 𝗷 𝗸 𝗹 𝗺 𝗻 𝗼 𝗽 𝗾 𝗿 𝘀 𝘁 𝘂 𝘃 𝘄 𝘅 𝘆 𝘇
𝟬 𝟭 𝟮 𝟯 𝟰 𝟱 𝟲 𝟳 𝟴 𝟵 - Mathematical Bold Italic
𝑨 𝑩 𝑪 𝑫 𝑬 𝑭 𝑮 𝑯 𝑰 𝑱 𝑲 𝑳 𝑴 𝑵 𝑶 𝑷 𝑸 𝑹 𝑺 𝑻 𝑼 𝑽 𝑾 𝑿 𝒀 𝒁
𝒂 𝒃 𝒄 𝒅 𝒆 𝒇 𝒈 𝒉 𝒊 𝒋 𝒌 𝒍 𝒎 𝒏 𝒐 𝒑 𝒒 𝒓 𝒔 𝒕 𝒖 𝒗 𝒘 𝒙 𝒚 𝒛 - Mathematical Sans-Serif Bold Italic
𝘼 𝘽 𝘾 𝘿 𝙀 𝙁 𝙂 𝙃 𝙄 𝙅 𝙆 𝙇 𝙈 𝙉 𝙊 𝙋 𝙌 𝙍 𝙎 𝙏 𝙐 𝙑 𝙒 𝙓 𝙔 𝙕
𝙖 𝙗 𝙘 𝙙 𝙚 𝙛 𝙜 𝙝 𝙞 𝙟 𝙠 𝙡 𝙢 𝙣 𝙤 𝙥 𝙦 𝙧 𝙨 𝙩 𝙪 𝙫 𝙬 𝙭 𝙮 𝙯 - Mathematical Bold Script (bold cursive)
𝓐 𝓑 𝓒 𝓓 𝓔 𝓕 𝓖 𝓗 𝓘 𝓙 𝓚 𝓛 𝓜 𝓝 𝓞 𝓟 𝓠 𝓡 𝓢 𝓣 𝓤 𝓥 𝓦 𝓧 𝓨 𝓩
𝓪 𝓫 𝓬 𝓭 𝓮 𝓯 𝓰 𝓱 𝓲 𝓳 𝓴 𝓵 𝓶 𝓷 𝓸 𝓹 𝓺 𝓻 𝓼 𝓽 𝓾 𝓿 𝔀 𝔁 𝔂 𝔃 - Mathematical Bold Fraktur (bold blackletter)
𝕬 𝕭 𝕮 𝕯 𝕰 𝕱 𝕲 𝕳 𝕴 𝕵 𝕶 𝕷 𝕸 𝕹 𝕺 𝕻 𝕼 𝕽 𝕾 𝕿 𝖀 𝖁 𝖂 𝖃 𝖄 𝖅
𝖆 𝖇 𝖈 𝖉 𝖊 𝖋 𝖌 𝖍 𝖎 𝖏 𝖐 𝖑 𝖒 𝖓 𝖔 𝖕 𝖖 𝖗 𝖘 𝖙 𝖚 𝖛 𝖜 𝖝 𝖞 𝖟
Bold italic, bold script and bold Fraktur have no digits, so 0–9 come out unbolded in those 3 styles. Use bold serif or bold sans, if your text has prices, dates or scores. Double-struck letters (𝔹𝕠𝕝𝕕) look heavy but are outline letters, not a bold alphabet.
Bold Text Combinations: Underline, Italic, Emoji and Symbols
The bold text generator combines bold letters with 5 extra effects:
- Bold with underline: 𝗕̲𝗼̲𝗹̲𝗱̲ 𝗨̲𝗻̲𝗱̲𝗲̲𝗿̲𝗹̲𝗶̲𝗻̲𝗲̲, plus double underline and overline versions.
- Bold with strikethrough: 𝗕̶𝗼̶𝗹̶𝗱̶ 𝗦̶𝘁̶𝗿̶𝗶̶𝗸̶𝗲̶, useful for old prices.
- Bold italic and bold cursive: 𝘽𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙄𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙘 and 𝓑𝓸𝓵𝓭 𝓒𝓾𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓿𝓮.
- Bold with emoji and symbols: ✨ 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 ✨, 👑 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝 👑 and ꧁༺ 𝓑𝓸𝓵𝓭 ༻꧂.
- Big and small text: black square letters (🅱🅸🅶) for big text and superscript tags (ᴮᴼᴸᴰ) for small text.
Filter the style list by Bold to see every bold combination, or open the underline text and italic text pages.
Bold Text Generator for Social Media and Apps
Every major app accepts Unicode bold text, and 3 of them (WhatsApp, Discord and Reddit) have a built-in bold syntax. Here is the best method for each app.
Bold Text for Instagram
Instagram has no bold option for bios, captions or comments, so Unicode bold is the only way to bold text there. Bold the first line of a caption, as the feed shows only the start of a long caption. See Instagram fonts.
Bold Text for Facebook
Facebook profile posts and comments have no bold button. Paste a bold headline at the top of a post, and keep the details in plain text. Facebook Groups posts sometimes show a formatting bar, and that native bold reads better for screen reader users. See Facebook fonts.
Bold Text for LinkedIn
LinkedIn posts have no bold button, so many creators paste a bold first line as a hook. Bold only that line: a fully bold post is hard to read and screen readers spell bold letters one by one.
Bold Text for X (Twitter) and TikTok
X offers bold formatting only to some paid accounts, so most users paste Unicode bold into posts, the bio and the display name. X counts many bold letters as 2 characters toward the limit. TikTok bios and captions lack formatting tools too, and Unicode bold displays in both. See Twitter fonts and TikTok fonts.
Bold Text for WhatsApp
WhatsApp has built-in bold: type *your text* between asterisks. The native method works in any language and stays searchable. Use Unicode bold for your WhatsApp name, About and status, where asterisks do nothing. See WhatsApp fonts.
Bold Text for Discord and Reddit
Discord and Reddit use Markdown: **double asterisks** make text bold in Discord messages and Reddit comments. Unicode bold is for places where Markdown does not apply, such as a Discord display name or a Reddit post title. See Discord fonts.
Bold Text in HTML, CSS, Word and Google Docs
Websites and documents have real bold formatting, and real bold is better there than Unicode bold. Here are the 4 standard methods:
- HyperText Markup Language (HTML): wrap words in <strong> for important text or <b> for visual bold. In <p>This text will be normal <strong>and this text will be bold</strong></p>, only the second half turns bold.
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS): set font-weight from 100 (thin) to 900 (black). The value 400 is normal and 700 is a bold font weight.
- Microsoft Word and Google Docs: select the text and press Ctrl+B on Windows or Cmd+B on a Mac.
- Email: Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail have a B button in the compose toolbar.
CSS font-weight has no effect on Unicode bold characters, as they are already separate bold glyphs. Search engines and screen readers read HTML bold as normal words, so keep websites on HTML and CSS bold.
Can You Make Bold Text With Color or a Bigger Size?
No, plain text carries no color or size, so no bold text generator can add them. Each app sets the color and size of the text you paste. There are 3 workarounds:
- Bigger look: black square letters (🅱🅸🅶) and wide text (BIG) take more space than normal letters.
- Smaller look: ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ and ᵗⁱⁿʸ ᵗᵉˣᵗ take less space. See the small text generator.
- Color: colored emoji next to bold text, such as 🔴 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘, add color. Discord on desktop colors text inside an ansi code block.
The size slider in the generator changes the preview only, not the copied text.
Can You Make Hindi Text Bold?
No, Unicode has no bold version of Hindi (Devanagari) letters. The bold alphabets cover Latin letters, digits and Greek only, so a bold text generator returns Hindi text unchanged. Use the app formatting instead: WhatsApp bolds Hindi between asterisks (*नमस्ते*), and Word and Google Docs bold Hindi with Ctrl+B. The same rule applies to Urdu, Arabic and Bengali text.
Is There a Bold Text Generator App or Chrome Extension?
No, FontGlint has no app or Chrome extension, as the bold text generator runs in the browser. There are 2 ways to open it fast:
- On a phone: open the page in Chrome or Safari and choose Add to Home Screen. The bold text generator opens like an app.
- On a computer: press Ctrl+D on Windows or Cmd+D on a Mac to bookmark the page.
Browser extensions that change text often ask to read every page you visit. A web page needs no such permission.
Bold Text and Accessibility
Unicode bold text is hard for screen readers: VoiceOver reads 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝 as a string of math symbols. There are 3 rules for using bold text without shutting readers out:
- Bold a few words, not whole posts.
- Keep names, prices, dates and links plain.
- Prefer built-in bold where an app offers it, such as WhatsApp asterisks or Discord Markdown.

Can I use bold text in my Instagram username?
No, Instagram usernames accept only plain letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Put bold text in your Name field and bio.
Why are my numbers not bold in bold italic?

Can I type bold text on my phone keyboard?
No, iPhone and Android keyboards have no bold key for apps like Instagram. Copy bold text from the generator and paste it.
